Herb Pharm Kids Mullein Garlic Oil: A Traditional Ear-Care Oil for Children

Mullein garlic oil is one of the older herbal traditions parents still reach for. Herb Pharm makes a kids version in a base of certified organic olive oil, with mullein and garlic plus calendula and St. John's Wort. What is in the bottle

This is a 1 fluid ounce dropper bottle. The herbs are extracted into organic olive oil, so the oil itself is the carrier and there are no fillers beyond that. The four herbs each have a long history of traditional use:

• Mullein flower has been used for generations in ear-care oils for its soothing feel.
• Garlic bulb is the second half of the classic mullein-garlic pairing.
• Calendula flower is a flower herbalists have long used on the skin for a calming, comforting feel.
• St. John's Wort flowering top rounds out the blend in this traditional formula.

How parents tend to use it

The oil goes in warmed slightly, not hot. Herb Pharm suggests a drop or two in each ear a couple of times a day. Many kids accept it easily because the warmed olive oil feels mild going in. It is for external ear use only, never to be swallowed. One honest caveat: this is a comfort-oriented herbal oil, so set expectations accordingly and loop in your pediatrician if anything feels off.

When to skip it and call your doctor

Do not put anything in the ear if your child's eardrum might be ruptured. Drainage, severe pain, dizziness, or fever are all reasons to stop and check with a clinician before using any ear drop.
